Rams Rework DE Chris Long’s Contract, Reduce Cap Figure By $2M

 

According to Brian McIntyre, the Rams have also reworked the contract of DE Chris Long.

• McIntyre mentions that St. Louis converted $3 million of Long’s base salary into a signing bonus, which lowered his cap number by $2 million.

Long, 29, is entering the third year of his five-year, $60.31 million contract that included $36.76 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $13.2 million for the 2014 season before they restructure this salary.

He’ll make $8 million in 2015 and another $9.75 million in 2016 to go along with $2 million roster bonus in each season.

Long has yet to miss a single game over the course of his six-year NFL career. Last season, he recorded 40 tackles, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries and scored a defensive touchdown.
