Rams Sign QB Nick Foles To A Two-Year, $24M Extension

The St. Louis Rams announced that they’ve signed QB Nick Foles to a two-year contract extension on Friday.

  • Mike Garafolo reports that the base value of Foles new contract is over $12 million per year.
  • Ian Rapoport confirms that Foles receives a two-year, $24M extension with close to $14 million guaranteed.
  • Adam Schefter mentions that the total value of Foles’ contract comes out to $26 over the course of three years.
  • A source familiar with Foles’ deal tells Jason La Canfora the contract includes lots of “creativity.
  • The Rams can reportedly void the final year of Foles’ new deal based on his performance.

Rams GM Les Snead told reporters last week that it was “definitely realistic” to think they could have a long-term contract in place with Foles before the end of the season.

“Oh yes, I think it’s definitely realistic,” Snead said. “I think both parties philosophically, us as an organization and … he’s getting to that point where he wants to focus on football and let’s roll. And hey, let the chips fall where they may.

“I do think he’s excited about what’s around him. He thinks we’ll all be successful and that usually means success for the individual as well.

Foles, 26, came over in a trade from the Eagles that sent Sam Bradford to Philadelphia. He had one year remaining on his four-year, $2.769 million rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $1.522 million for the 2015 season.

This new agreement will keep Foles under team control through the 2017 season.

In 2014, Foles appeared in eight games for the Eagles and threw for 2,163 yards while completing 59.8 percent of his passes for 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 25 quarterback out of 39 qualifying players.
