Rams Sign RFA C Ryan Groy To Two-Year, $5M Offer Sheet, Bills Have 5 Days To Match

Mike Rodak and Adam Caplan of ESPN are reporting that the Rams have signed Bills restricted free agent C Ryan Groy a two-year offer sheet.

  • Tom Pelissero reports that Groy’s offer sheet with the Rams is a two-year, $5 million contract with $3.5 million fully guaranteed.

This means that the Bills now have just five days to decide whether or not to match Los Angeles’ offer sheet to Groy.

Last week, Caplan reported that Groy was drawing interest from “at least” four teams right and some of them believe he could start for them.

The Bills used an original-round tender on him that will cost them $1.797 million for the 2017 season and give them the right of first refusal for any offer sheet he receives from another team during free agency. However, they wouldn’t receive any compensation for losing him.

Groy, 26, originally signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in 2014. The Bears later traded Groy to the Patriots for Matt Wells, but he didn’t  last long in New England.

Groy played briefly for the Buccaneers before the Bills signed him to their roster during the 2015 season.

In 2016, Groy was active for all 16 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 23 center out of 38 qualifying players.
