Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Rams are signing QB Dylan Thompson to a contract on Monday.
This is an interesting move from the Rams, considering their current depth at the position. It would seem like the Rams are prepared to either trade or release veteran QB Nick Foles at some point in the near future.
Thompson, 24, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina last year. He was unable to make the 53-man roster, but was later signed to the 49ers practice squad.
San Franscico elected to promote him to their active roster towards the end of the season, but he was unfortunately, released shortly after this year’s draft.
Thompson has yet to appear in an NFL game.
