Rams Waive/Injured OLB Carlos Thompson, Sign Six

The Los Angeles Rams announced Monday that they’ve waived OLB Carlos Thompson with an injury designation and signed six tryout players to contracts including:

  1. Nick Holley/RB/Kent State
  2. Afolabi Laguda/S/Colorado
  3. Codey McElroy/TE/Southeastern Oklahoma State
  4. Steven Parker/S/Oklahoma
  5. Luis Perez/QB/Texas A&M-Commerce
  6. Brian Womac/DE/Rice

Thompson, 26, signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in May of 2016. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but spent most of the year on the team’s injured reserve list.

The Texans elected to cut Thompson loose coming out of the preseason and he, unfortunately, sat out the 2016 season. The Rams signed him to a contract last year and he was on and off of their roster during the 2017 season.

In 2017, Thompson appeared in three games and recorded five tackles for the Rams.

Womac wound up going undrafted out of Rice a few weeks ago before securing a tryout with the Rams during their rookie minicamp this weekend.

During his four-year college career at Rice, Womac recorded 109 tackles, 40 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery and two pass defenses over the course of 40 games.
