Rams Waive RBs Tre Mason & Trey Watts

The Los Angeles Rams officially waived RB Tre Mason from the reserve/did not report list and RB Trey Watts from the reserve/suspended list.

Tina Mason, the mother of Rams RB Tre Mason, told Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies last year that her son has a “10-year-old’s mindset”  due to head injuries he suffered during his football career.

Tre is not himself at all,” Mason said on audio recorded from a PBSO dashboard-camera video recorded on July 27, during an incident in which her son fled from police while riding an ATV, via the Palm Beach Post. “He’s not making good decisions.

An officer tells Tina Mason that her son should be playing football, but she doesn’t believe that’s what’s best for her son.

No, actually he shouldn’t. … ,” Tina Mason responded. “There’s CTE and this head-injury thing. You can say he should be playing football, but this is not what it is.

As much as he’s accomplished, as hard as he’s worked, as much as he’s built his character, in record-breaking time it’s going downhill because of what’s going on,” Mason added. “He doesn’t even know. He’s not conscious enough.”

Mason has had numerous off-the-field incidents and his family is clearly concerned about his mental health.

The Rams placed Mason on the Reserve/Did Not Report list last suffer after not hearing from him for some time.

Mason, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Rams back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,980,938 rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $641,146 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Mason appeared in 13 games for the Rams and ran for 207 yards on 75 carries (2.8 YPC) to go along with 18 receptions for 88 yards receiving and one total touchdown.
