The Rams officially announced that they have waived seventh-round pick DE Michael Sam.
According to Ian Rapoport, the teams that expressed interest in Sam before the draft were the Rams, Bears, Giants and Ravens.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Rams have waived seventh-round pick DE Michael Sam.
- Schefter adds that Sam is a candidate to end up on the practice squad.
There was some optimism that Sam could make the cut seeing is one of their last remaining players to be released.
Sam was able to make some plays during the preseason, but undrafted rookie Ethan Westbrooks looked like the better player over the course of the summer.
There still is a chance that someone could claim Sam off of waivers in the coming days and keep him on their 53-man roster given that he is a pass rusher.
