Rams Cut DL Quinton Jefferson & OL J.J. Dielman

Lindsey Thiry, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the Rams waived DL Quinton Jefferson and cut C Jake Eldrenkamp from their practice squad.

  • Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Rams are placing OL J.J. Dielman on waivers Tuesday and are hoping to re-sign him to their practice squad.

Dielman, 23, was selected with the No. 176 overall pick by the Bengals in this year’s NFL draft. He signed a four-year contract worth $2,819,648, which includes a signing bonus of $201,944.

However, the Bengals elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Dielman earned second-team All-Pac 12 honors in 2015.

During his five-year college career at Utah, Dielman started 31 of 32 career games before sustaining a season-ending injury during his senior year. He appeared as a right tackle through his first three years before starting at center his senior season.

Jefferson, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2016. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason and later claimed off of waivers by the Rams.

Jefferson is currently in the second year of his four-year, $2.59 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $540,000 and $630,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Jefferson appeared in three games and record one tackle and no sacks for the Seahawks.
