Rams Waiving QB Brandon Allen

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Rams are placing QB Brandon Allen on waivers Tuesday.

Should Allen go unclaimed, Pelissero says that he’s a candidate for the Rams’ practice squad. However, three teams placed waivers claims for Allen last year, so there’s no guarantee he’ll return to Los Angeles.

Allen, 26, is a former sixth-round pick out of Arkansas by the Jaguars back in 2016. He is entering the third year of a four-year, $2.4 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $630,000 for the 2018 season.

The Jaguars somewhat surprising waived him coming out of the preseason last year and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Rams. Unfortunately, Allen finished out the season on injured reserve.

During his four-year college career, Allen recorded 583 completions on 1,016 pass attempts (57.4 percent) for 7,463 yards, 64 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions.
