Rams Want QB Sam Bradford Back Next Season

Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the Rams still view QB Sam Bradford as a part of their future plans.

According to Breer, Bradford would still need to re-work his contract, but St. Louis wants to bring him back next season and there is a chance he could be their starter as they enter the 2015 season.

  • Breer adds that the Rams are still likely add a quarterback in next year’s NFL draft.

Many expected the Rams to move on from the former No. 1 overall pick next year now that they can get out from under his contract without much of an issue.

However, it appears as though the Rams would prefer to keep their options open, especially if Bradford is willing to work with them to reduce his 2015 cap figure.

Bradford unfortunately suffered a torn ACL that forced the team to place him on season-ending injured reserve for the second time in as many years.

Since then, the Rams have started Austin Davis and Shaun Hill for much of the season, but they really appear to be turning a corner as the season has played out. They have recorded back-to-back shutouts and have wins over the Broncos, Seahawks and 49ers this season, and there is a chance that they could beat the division-leading Cardinals tonight.

It’s hard to not imagine what this team could do with above-average quarterback play.

Bradford, 27, suffered a torn ACL in his left knee last year and was limited to appearing in just seven games. He will count $16.85 million against the cap and will make a base salary of $12.985 million for the 2015 season.
