Rams WR Avery could be done for the year

As Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams shined in a tight win over the New England Patriots tonight, the team may have been dealt a large blow with the injury to Donnie Avery that forced him to be carted off of the field.

An early report from Fox Sports’ Adam Caplan, has said that Avery’s knee injury could worse than originally thought and may cost him the season. Caplan’s source suggests “exact injury isn’t known” but the “fear is he’ll miss the entire 2010 season.”

Avery’s injury will leave the team with Laurent Robinson and Mardy Gilyard as the teams starting wide receivers which would suggest that the team may have some trouble in their passing game despite the strong showing from Bradford tonight.

The Rams will be hard pressed to find better options in the free agent pool but could hope to add someone as teams cut their rosters to begin the season.
