Rams WR Danny Amendola Worthy Of The Franchise Tag?

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio writes that Rams WR Danny Amendola is “performing at a level that will compel the Rams to apply the franchise tag” on him during the offseason.

Last year, St Louis placed a second-round tender on Amendola and was able to retain him for a very reasonable salary of $1.972 million. He’s clearly out performed that deal and is deserving a long-term contract, even though he does have a history of injuries.

Amendola returned from a separated clavicle and put up 102 yards on 11 catches against one of the leagues best defenses. He’s clearly the Rams best offensive weapon, so there’s at least a chance they could franchise him during the offseason.

We have him currently listed as the No. 32 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents List, but that figures to change in the coming days.
