Rams WR Tavon Austin Out Close To 2 Weeks With Sprained MCL

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Rams second-year WR Tavon Austin is out roughly two weeks with a sprained MCL.

Austin suffered what appeared to be a serious knee injury as his leg was bent backwards as he went to the ground during Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers.

Since the Rams used the No. 8 overall pick on him last year, he has yet to show signs of being the type of player St. Louis was hoping to get when they drafted him that high.

He finished the 2013 season with 40 receptions for 418 yards and six total touchdowns scored including a punt return. That’s not the worst rookie season by any means, but the overall expectations for him were much higher coming out of college.

We’ll have more updates regarding Austin as the news is available.
