Randall Cobb Would Like To Get An Extension Done With The Packers

Packers WR Randall Cobb is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is now eligible to negotiating a long-term contract.

According to Cobb, the Packers haven’t reached out him or his agent regarding a long-term extension up to this point, but he would be open to getting something done before the start of the season.

“I would definitely love that,” Cobb said, via NFL.com. “But unfortunately that won’t be my decision. That will be on the team to come to me with that decision.”

“I would love to get it out the way and not to have to worry about any of the conversations or answering any questions during the season that would take away from what we’re trying to do as a football team.”

Cobb, 23, has already shown enough to warrant a new contract and has proven to be an important weapon for the Packers’ offense. He’ll make just $812,648 for the 2014 season.

Green Bay has plenty of cap space to work with, so it would make sense for them to try to get Cobb locked up now, rather than wait until after the 2015 season, which could force them to use the franchise tag on Cobb depending on how negotiations go at that point in time.
