Randy Gregory Met With Roger Goodell Tuesday Regarding Reinstatement

Jane Slater of NFL Media reports that suspended Cowboys DE Randy Gregory met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday for his official reinstatement hearing.

According to Slater, Cowboys LB Sean Lee was among the teammates offering character statements and testified that Gregory has earned another opportunity.

Slater says that sources close to the situation have said that Gregory has passed “a number of drug tests” over the past few years and has spent over six weeks in intensive drug and alcohol rehabilitation in the hope of being reinstated.

Talking to people close to the situation, they tell me he’s passed a number of drug tests over the last couple of years,” Slater said. “He’s also been able to maintain and he wants to rejoin this Cowboys organization, something that he has been incredible committed to.”

Gregory wound up missing the entire 2017 season while serving a suspension for another failed drug test.

Gregory, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.814 million contract that includes $1.404 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2016, Gregory appeared in two games for the Cowboys and recorded nine tackles and a sack.

We’ll have more regarding Gregory as the news is available.
