Randy Moss Open To A Return To The 49ers?

According to CSN Bay Area writer Matt Maiocco, free agent WR Randy Moss would “listen” to the 49ers should they come calling.

  • Ed Werder of ESPN states that the 49ers have had “no recent contact” with Moss about a possible return.

Moss, 36, was a part of the NFC Champion team last season but saw very limited playing time and recorded only 28 catches with 434 receiving yards and just 3 touchdowns.  The 49ers closed the door on a Moss return early in the offseason to help give younger options a chance at developing and producing for the team.

However, the situation has changed as WR Michael Crabtree completely tore his right Achilles’ tendon during OTAs.

The 49ers now are left with WR Anquan Boldin, WR Mario Manningham, the inexperienced A.J. Jenkins, and rookie WR Quentin Patton, so there is reason for concern now that Crabtree is likely done for the season.

We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
