Rashard Mendenhall Will Make His Season Debut In Week 5

According to Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall is expected to make his season debut against the Philadelphia Eagles next weekend.

“I hope [Mendenhall’s return] helps us a bunch,” said offensive coordinator Todd Haley. “… To get another difference-maker back will, hopefully, will be a big deal for us.

The Steelers have been using a combination of Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer, for the most part, but their ground-game hasn’t been productive to say the least, so I can understand why Haley would be this optimistic about Mendenhall’s return.

Mendenhall is coming off of an ACL injury, but he thinks that he has most of speed back and even mentioned that his knee is feeling good. The Eagles are an average run defense, so this could be a decent enough test for Mendenhall.
