Ravens Aren’t Signing OT Jake Long After He Declined To Sign Injury Waiver

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that veteran OT Jake Long declined to sign injury waiver with the Ravens and will instead remain a free agent.

  • According to Schefter, Long passed an exit physical with Falcons in January and another with Dr. James Andrews this week.
  • Long tells Schefter that his knee feels great, and was enthused by Andrews’ review of his knee this week. Long is still looking forward to playing this season.

After reports surfaced that Long was signing a one-year deal with the Ravens, the team had “some concern” about his knee, and scheduled a meeting with Dr. James Andrews.

Long previously mentioned that he’s “100 percent confident” he will be playing in 2016.

[I’ve been] working out everyday and feeling strong,” Long said, via Sirius XM NFL Radio. “This is the healthiest I’ve felt in a very long time. Knee feels great.”

The Bears brought Long in for a tryout a few weeks ago, but they elected to go in a different direction in terms of offensive line help.

Long, 31, is a former No. 1 overall pick by the Dolphins back in 2008. He spent five years in Miami before signing on with the Rams as an unrestricted free agent during the 2013 offseason.

Long has unfortunately dealt with multiple ACL tears over the past few years, which led to him signing a one-year deal with the Falcons last year as a reserve lineman.

In 2015, Long was limited to appearing in just four games for the Falcons, playing nine total snaps.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
