ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Ravens have reached an agreement with free agent OL Austin Howard on Friday.
- Ian Rapoport reports that Howard receives a three-year contract worth $16 million from the Ravens that will pay him $5.5 million in 2017.
- The agreement also includes team options after each season.
Howard is in Baltimore taking a physical for the team right now, so it appears a deal could be done by this afternoon.
Baltimore was tossed out as a potential landing spot for Howard shortly after he was cut loose by the Raiders. The Ravens could use some offensive line depth and Howard is clearly among the best available options at this point in the year.
Howard, 30, originally signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent back in 2010. He had a brief stint with the Ravens before he was signed to the Jets’ active roster in 2011.
After three years in New York, Howard signed a five-year, $30 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Raiders and was set to make a base salary of $4.9 million for the 2017 season when he was released.
In 2016, Howard appeared in 11 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 52 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.
