Ravens Could Increase Competition At The Right Tackle Position

It appears as though the Ravens are prepared to enter training camp with former fifth-round pick Ricky Wagner as their starting right tackle, but there has been some recent buzz that they could add some competition in coming days.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that he wouldn’t be shocked to see Baltimore target a veteran free agent like Eric Winston.

Meanwhile, Matt Zenitz of the Carroll County Times agrees that Winston could be on their radar and also listed Tyson Clabo, Ryan Harris, Dennis Roland and Jeremy Trueblood as other right tackle options for the Ravens.

2013 sixth-round pick Ryan Jensen is expected to compete for the job, but right tackle happens to be one of the deeper positions in the free agent, so it couldn’t hurt to at least bring some of these guys in for tryouts.

Wagner, 24, played 131 snaps over the course of 16 games. According to Pro Football Focus, struggled a bit in pass-protection, but was actually a decent run-blocking right tackle for the Ravens last year.

We have some of these players listed in our recent updated Top 50 – Best Available Free Agents list.
