Ravens Cut WR Deonte Thompson, Promote RB Fitzgerald Toussaint

The Baltimore Ravens announced Saturday that they have waived WR Deonte Thompson and promoted RB Fitzgerald Toussaint to their active roster.

The fact that Thompson was the player cut to make room for Toussaint is fairly interesting given that ESPN’s damning “Outside The Lines” report from Friday mentioned that HC John Harbaugh wanted to release him several months ago after he was arrested.

Thompson, 25, signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in 2012. He still had two years remaining on his three-year, $1.44 million rookie contract.

Last year, Thompson appeared in seven games and caught 10 passes for 96 yards while also contributing as a kick returner.

Toussaint, 24, is another undrafted free agent signing. Baltimore is banged up at running back, so this could be an indication that Bernard Pierce could be held out of Week 3’s game.
