Ravens DL Chris Canty’s Roster Spot In Danger?

According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, “there’s no guarantee” Ravens DL Chris Canty will make the team’s final 53-man roster this year.

Hensley mentions that Canty’s first year in Baltimore was a disappointment and points to the fact that they could free up $2 million for the 2014 season by cutting him loose as reasons why Canty could be on the chopping later this summer.

The Ravens would have to be comfortable with Kapron Lewis-Moore and fourth-round pick Brent Urban in order to move on without Canty.

Canty, 31, signed a three-year, $8 million contract that included $2.84 million guaranteed with the Ravens last season. He has base salaries of $2 million and $2.66 million coming his way over the next two years.

Last year, Canty appeared in 15 games and recorded 30 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles for the Ravens defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 defensive end in 3-4 system last year, due in large part to his strong run defense.
