Ravens Forfeit One Week Of OTAs For CBA Violation, HC John Harbaugh Fined

The NFL announced Thursday that the Ravens will forfeit one week of OTAs (June 1-3) with the team and HC John Harbaugh being fined for violating the CBA.

  • Jim Trotter reports that the Ravens were fined $343,057 and Harbaugh was fined $137,223 for the matter.

The Ravens issued a statement regarding the league’s ruling on the matter, saying: “We made a mistake and we are sorry for that. We accept the NFL discipline.”

The punishment is in line with recent reports that expected them to receive a fine and lose some practice time. It was considered highly unlikely that they would be docked a draft pick for the incident.

Baltimore had rookies in pads for a practice a few weeks ago, but they immediately took the players off the field after it was brought to their attention by union rep Ben Watson that this was a violation of the CBA.

The Ravens said after the incident that they were unaware of this being a violation of the CBA. However, Adam Schefter reported that the NFL was buying this explanation and instead believed the Ravens were aware of the rules and moved forward anyway.

It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the Ravens first violation, as they previously lost practice time for a violation.
