Ravens Interested In Re-Signing RB Justin Forsett

According to impending free agent RB Justin Forsett, the Ravens have already expressed interest in re-signing him to a contract extension.

They expressed that they want me back. I want to be back, so we’ll see what happens,” said Forsett, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Patra mentions that there could be some concern from Baltimore’s staff that Forsett’s 2014 success was due to former OC Gary Kubiak‘s run-scheme.

Now that Kubiak has departed for the Broncos head-coaching position, the Ravens have brought in former Bears HC Marc Trestman to run their offense.

Trestman is known for his passing attack, but he did say that they will continue to a similar zone-blocking scheme moving forward.

Regardless, Forsett is confident that his skills can translate to any coordinator’s system and plans to be back with the Ravens.

That is the plan, they gave me my shot, they trusted me and believed in me enough to give me that shot so I’d like to stay,” Forsett said.

Forsett, 29, excelled when assuming lead-back duties in Baltimore after Ray Rice was released at the beginning of the year, and is in a great position to secure a multi-year contract in the coming months.

In 2014, Forsett compiled career-highs with 1,266 rushing yards, eight touchdowns, and five games where he totalled over 100-yards. Pro Football Focus has Forsett rated as the No. 6 running back last season out of 57 qualifying players.

We have Forsett listed as the No. 41 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
