Ravens Place LB Ray Lewis On IR With The Designation To Return

Aaron Wilson reports that the Baltimore Ravens have placed MLB Ray Lewis on the injured reserve list with the designation to return.

Head coach John Harbaugh mentioned that they “we’re going to keep the door open,” in regards to Lewis possibly returning later in the season, but that seems high unlikely at this point in time.

Ed Werder adds that Lewis underwent surgery today to repair his torn triceps and is optimistic that Lewis could return in the event that they make it to the Super Bowl without him.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh announced that MLB Ray Lewis does in fact have a torn triceps and will miss the remainder of the season.

Jameel McClain figures to be the next man up for a Ravens defense that has been riddled with injures this season.

Last night, there were several reports that suggested that Ravens MLB Ray Lewis suffered a torn triceps muscle during Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys, and could be out for the remainder of the season.

Lewis will undergo an MRI today to determine the severity of the injury.

“I don’t think it’s really bad,” said head coach John Harbaugh, via Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. “He had a triceps issue, but I don’t know how serious.

“Nothing definitive,” said a source with knowledge of the situation. “He responded well to treatment tonight, however. We’ll know tomorrow. It’s wait and see for now.

Should Lewis missed an extended period of time, the Ravens would likely to turn to Jameel McClain to takeover Lewis’ responsibilities. We’ll have more  as the information becomes available.
