Ravens Still “Very Much In The Mix” For DT Brandon Williams, “Rumblings” About Giants’ Interest

Update:

Jeff Zrebiec updates his previous report by saying that he was “too strong” earlier when he mentioned that the Ravens were going to lose free agent DT Brandon Williams. According to Zrebiec, the Ravens are still “very much in the mix” for Williams.

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that free agent DT Brandon Williams won’t be returning to the Ravens next year.

Interestingly enough, Zrebiec says there have been “rumblings” about Williams and the Giants, but he isn’t sure anything has been decided as of now.

The Ravens have reportedly been trying to retain Williams, but their cap situation and the likelihood of him getting big money makes it seem unlikely that they can make it work.

Williams, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $2,675,000 rookie contract and is now in line to be one of the most sought after defensive tackles in this year’s free agent class.

In 2016, Williams appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded 51 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 defensive tackle out of 127 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
