Ravens Notes: Free Agents Centers, James Ihedigbo, Erin Henderson

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun takes a look at a few of the decisions the Ravens will be faced with during free agency.

Free Agents Centers

Zrebiec writes that the Ravens are likely to be major players for some of the better free agent centers given that they could be forced to fill holes at both tackle positions.

Even so, Zrebiec mentions that Baltimore could target some of the veteran centers in free agency like Jonathan Goodwin (49ers) or the Fernando Velasco (Steelers) and hope to sign them to a low-cost one-year contract. Otherwise, Zrebiec believes they could be forced to count on Gino Gradkowski, A.Q. Shipley or Ryan Jensen next season.

James Ihedigbo, Arthur Jones & Corey Graham

According to Zrebiec, “there is already some buzz” regarding impending free agent S James Ihedigbo.

Zrebiec doesn’t see the Ravens making a “significant bid” to keep Ihedigbo, especially now that they intend to move Matt Elam to strong safety next season.

Zrebiec adds that DL Arthur Jones and CB Corey Graham are also likely to be playing elsewhere next season.

Erin Henderson & Rolando McClain

After the Ravens took a chance on ILB Rolando McClain last year, Zrebiec writes that “there hasn’t been any indication so far that he plans to return for the 2014 season.”

The Ravens still hold his contractual rights and McClain’s agent seemed to suggest that he could consider a return to the NFL at some point in time.

Considering how things played out with McClain, Zrebiec doesn’t the Ravens taking a chance on recently released LB Erin Henderson even though they could use some extra depth at inside linebacker he attended the University of Maryland.
