Ravens Officially Sign Aaron Ross, Dominique Franks, Austin Spitler & Nick DiMarco

The Baltimore Ravens officially announced the signings of CBs Aaron Ross and Dominique Franks, LBs Austin Spitler and Nick DiMarco, and WR Mike Willie on Friday.

The Ravens waived undrafted rookie DB Avery Patterson and Dexter Moody, and LB Xavius Boyd to make room for the new additions.

  • Aaron Wilson reports that although the Ravens didn’t sign CB Kevin Thomas, he’s on their standby list and could revisit the team during training camp.

Ross, 31, worked out for the Lions back in April, but hadn’t found much interest before the Ravens brought him in.

The Jaguars released him just one year into his three-year, $9.75 million. Ross would later catch on with the Giants, but was unfortunately placed on season-ending injured reserve with a back injury in October of last year.

Franks, 26, hasn’t found any reported interest before he was brought in for a workout this week. He was a fifth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2010. He played four years for Atlanta and recorded 25 tackles, three interceptions and nine passes defensed.

Spitler, 27, was a seventh-round pick of the Dolphins back 2010. He has spent the past four years with Miami, but hasn’t found any reported interest as a free agent this offseason.

He has appeared in 55 total games and recorded 11 tackles and a fumble recovery while playing primarily on special teams.

Willie, 24, signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in 2012. San Diego would later sign him to their practice squad.

Last year, the Chargers released him from injured reserve with an injury settlement August. The odds are probably against him cracking the team’s 53-man roster in training camp.
