Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Ravens OL Kelechi Osemele is expected to test the open market next week.
According to Wilson, Osemele won’t be back with the Ravens unless he ends up being compensated the highest paid guard in the league.
Last we heard regarding Osemele, Jeremy Fowler mentioned that the buzz at the Combine was that Osemele was “looking at” making $10 million or more per year in his next contract.
Other reports said that the Ravens were aggressively trying to sign Osemele to a long-term extension, and have already offered him a contract that would make him the second highest paid offensive player on their roster behind only QB Joe Flacco.
It’s obviously going to take a huge contract to keep Osemele in Baltimore, given that he’s in line to be one of the best offensive lineman in this year’s free agent class.
Osemele, 26, was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Ravens. He has one year remaining on his four-year, $3.34 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $846,255 for the 2015 season.
In 2015, Osemele has appeared in 14 games for the Ravens and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 18 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.
