Ravens Pick Up $3.33M Of Cap Room By Reworking S Tony Jefferson’s Contract

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Ravens picked up $3.33 million of cap space for the 2018 season by converting $5 million of S Tony Jefferson’s $6M million base salary into a signing bonus.

Tony Jefferson, 26, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract in Arizona before signing a four-year, $34 million contract that included $19 million guaranteed with the Ravens in 2017.

Jefferson stands to make base salaries of $6 million and $8 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Jefferson appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded 79 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 24 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
