Ravens Place CB Jimmy Smith On IR, Sign CB Robertson Daniel To Practice Squad

The Baltimore Ravens announced Tuesday that they’ve officially placed CB Jimmy Smith on injured reserve and signed CB Robertson Daniel to their practice squad.

Last weekend, Smith suffered an Achilles tear, so the expectation was that he would be moved to the Ravens’ injured reserve list at some point in the near future.

Smith, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. He’s currently in the second year of his five-year, $54.89 million contract that includes $21 million guaranteed and is set to make base salaries of $8.5 million and $9 million over the next two years.

Smith is currently serving a four-game suspension.

In 2017, Smith has appeared in 12 games and recorded 28 tackles, three interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 cornerback out of 114 qualifying players.
