Ravens QB Joe Flacco Expected To Miss 3-6 Weeks With Back Issue

Update:

According to Adam Schefter, Ravens QB Joe Flacco sustained a back injury while lifting and underwent an MRI. The team believes just one week of rest will calm his injury enough to resume practice.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Ravens are preparing to be without QB Joe Flacco for 3-6 weeks due to a disc issue in his back.

  • According to Rapoport, Flacco will miss at least two weeks with the injury, so it appears the Ravens’ quarterback will not be at risk of missing significant time.
  • Although, Jason La Canfora reports “no one” with the Ravens seems “overly concerned” about Flacco’s back injury.
  • Jeff Zrebeic of the Baltimore Sun reported earlier today that Flacco is dealing with soreness in his back and was expected to be held out of a few practices to recover as a precaution.

Flacco, 32, is entering the second year of a six-year, $125 million contract that contained $44 million guaranteed. He is set to make a base salary of $6 million this season to go along with another $12 million (2018), $18.5 million (2019), $20.25 (2020) million, $24.25 million (2021).

In 2016, Flacco appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded 436 completions on 672 passing attempts (64.9 percent) for 4,317 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 overall quarterback out of 33 qualifying players.
