Ravens RB Danny Woodhead Expected To Miss 6-8 Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Update:

Adam Schefter reports that Ravens RB Danny Woodhead is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a hamstring injury, which makes him a candidate for the injured reserve.

If the Ravens placed him on the injured reserve with a designation to return, Woodhead could come back sometime around midseason.

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that the initial fear for the Ravens is that RB Danny Woodhead will miss “a significant amount of time” with the hamstring injury he suffered during Sunday’s win over the Bengals.

Zrebiec adds that the Ravens will likely add a running back to their roster while he’s out with practice squad players Jeremy Langford and Alex Collins both being options.

The Baltimore Ravens announced that RB Danny Woodhead is doubtful to return to Sunday’s game against the Bengals after he suffered a left hamstring injury.

Woodhead was helped off after going down with a non-contact injury and was later taken to the locker room on a cart.

It’s worth mentioning that Woodhead dealt with a hamstring injury during training camp.

Woodhead, 32, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Chadron State back in 2008. He spent over two years in New York before signing on with the Patriots in 2010.

Woodhead finished out his three-year, $7.25 million contract with the Chargers, but his 2016 season, unfortunately, came to an end with him being placed on season-ending injured reserve back in September of last year with a torn ACL.

The Ravens signed him to a three-year, $8.8 million contract that included $3.25 million guaranteed and he’s set to make a base salary of $1 million for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Woodhead appeared in two games and rushed for 116 yards on 19 carries (6.1 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 35 yards receiving and a touchdown.

We’ll have more regarding Woodhead’s injury as the news is available.
