Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports that the Baltimore Ravens are expected to use their franchise tag on RB Ray Rice as soon as Friday.
The fact that the Ravens are going to use their tag on Rice isn’t much a surprise considering that reports have been indicating as much for the last two months. This move will cost the team $7.7 million for the 2012 season. The deadline for franchising players is on Monday, March 5th so getting it out of the way now would allow them to start addressing some other free agents like Ben Grubbs, Jarret Johnson and Lardarius Webb.
