Ravens Releasing Veteran OL Jeremy Zuttah

Aditi Kinkhabwala reports that the Ravens are releasing veteran OL Jeremy Zuttah on Wednesday.

  • According to Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens tried to trade Zuttah, but couldn’t find a deal.

There had been talk that Zuttah could be a cap casualty for the Ravens this offseason, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.

Zuttah, 30, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2008. He spent six seasons in Tampa Bay before he was traded to the Ravens in 2014 for a fifth-round pick that eventually became WR Kenny Bell.

Zuttah was in the third year of his five-year, $18 million contract that included $6.5 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Zuttah will free up $2,392,794 of available cap space while creating $2,214,412 in dead money.

In 2016, Zuttah appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 13 center out of 38 qualifying players.
