Ravens Reportedly Ask Lardarius Webb To Take Pay Cut From $8M Salary

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Ravens have asked veteran CB Lardarius Webb to take a pay cut from his $8 million salary to be back with the team.

According to Rapoport, it remains unclear whether or not Webb is willing to rework his contract to free up some much needed cap space for the Ravens.

There has been talk for several months now that Webb could be on the chopping block, as Baltimore works to get their finances in order.

Webb, 29, still has three years remaining on his six-year, $52.742 million contract that included a $10 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $8 million (2015-2016) and $8.5 million (2017) over the course of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Webb would free up $2 million in cap space while creating $10 million in dead money, which is a less than ideal situation for the Ravens.

If Baltimore designated him as a post-June 1 release, those figures would improve to $8 million in cap space and $4 million in dead money.

Webb may have some leverage in this situation based on the fact that the cap savings to release him outright are so limited.

In 2014, Webb appeared in 13 games and recorded 46 tackles, one interception and eight pass defenses for the Ravens. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 78 player out of 108 qualifying players.
