Ravens Rookie Courtney Upshaw In Line For A Big Role This Season

Peter King of Sports Illustrated writes that he expects to see second-round pick DE/OLB Courtney Upshaw take over the Terrell Suggs‘ starting job “from opening day.”

There’s no question that Upshaw will be looked to earlier on in training camp to take over for the reigning defensive player of the year, but that’s certainly a tall task for someone that’s just entering the NFL. The Ravens could also tryout Paul Kruger, Pernell McPhee and Sergio Kindle in certain situations to see if anyone shows more promise than the others.

King adds that he expects Upshaw to be “one of the most significant rookies in the league this year.
