Ravens “Still Talking” To TEs Owen Daniels & Ed Dickson, No Deal Imminent

Baltimore Ravens HC John Harbaugh said Tuesday that the Ravens are “still talking” to free agent tight ends Owen Daniels and Ed Dickson, per Aaron Wilson.

  • However, Harbaugh mentioned that no deal is imminent at this time.

Daniels has already made a few visits with teams including the Packers and Redskins since being cut loose by the Texans on March 11.

Daniels, 31, appeared in five games and caught 24 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns.  His season was limited due to injuries, but new Ravens Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak is well aware of Daniels’ ability, dating back to his time as Head Coach of the Texans.

Dickson, 26, reportedly has offers from the Ravens and Jaguars, and could have interest from teams like the Bills, Jets and Giants.

Dickson appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and totaled 25 receptions for 273 yards receiving and a touchdown. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the worst qualifying tight end in the league this past season.

Baltimore’s interest in both players stems from their lack of depth at the tight end position behind starter Dennis Pitta, who is coming off an injury plagued season himself.  Kubiak often employed double tight end sets in Houston, making the backup position very valuable.

We have both players listed in our Best Available Free Agents list.
