Ravens TE Dennis Pitta “Closer Than Ever” To Returning

Baltimore Ravens HC John Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday that TE Dennis Pitta is “closer than ever” to returning from a dislocated hip.

Everything I’ve been told is that he’s on schedule,” Harbaugh said, via ESPN.com. “But I still think it’s pretty vague and generic. We’re getting close to that date. I’m interested to hear when he can start practicing again. I’ve been asking that question. I haven’t gotten a ‘yes’ yet. But he’s closer than ever. I have my fingers crossed just like everybody else does.

Pitta, 28, dislocated his hip back in July and would later undergo surgery. Baltimore placed Pitta on the injured reserve with the designation to return, so they were clearly hoping to get him back at some point this season.

The Ravens can use all the help they can get as their passing offense has dropped off from a season ago. Pitta has been a very reliable target for Joe Flacco in recent years, so we’ll have to see how things go in the coming weeks.
