Ravens’ Torrey Smith, A #1 Wide Receiver?

ESPN’s Jamison Hensley believes that Ravens WR Torrey Smith will emerge as the teams’ No. 1 wide receiver next season.

Smith’s NFL career started off better than anyone could have expected after his first-three catches went for long touchdowns. He possesses incredible speed and shown the ability to separate from opposing defenders but he still needs to develop as consistent go-to option for Joe Flacco.

Last season Smith amassed 841 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns in 14 games, while playing with a sports hernia. He was hoping for a Smith 1,000 yard season but believes that it’s within striking distance.

I think I should have done it last year…It was my fault it didn’t happen… I’m looking forward to doing it this year.

The Ravens have said that they’re still looking to add some more talent to the receiver position, most likely in this year’s draft, which is probably a smart idea considering that Anquan Boldin is only getting older and his inability to separate is also concerning.
