Ravens Working On Extensions For WR Torrey Smith & K Justin Tucker

 

Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome confirmed that they are working on contract extensions for WR Torrey Smith and K Justin Tucker.

“We’re trying to get these done, but we haven’t yet,” Newsome said regarding negotiations with Smith and Tucker on Friday, via BaltimoreRavens.com.

There has been plenty of talk that Baltimore could have a long-term contract in place with Smith at some point in the near future, but it appears as though there is still some work to be done.

Smith, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie contract will make just $837,168 for the 2014 season, so he’s clearly in need of a big raise.

Last year, he caught 65 passes for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 60 receiver in the league last year.

As for Tucker, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and will be a restricted free agent next offseason. Tucker is already in the discussion for being one of the best kickers in the league and is clearly due for a sizable raise given that he will make just $570,000 this season.

During his two years in the NFL, Tucker has converted 91.8 percent of his field goal attempts and has produced a total of 272 points for the Ravens. He also converted a franchise-record 61-yard field goal to beat the Lions last year.

Pro Football Focus has Tucker rated as the No. 6 kicker in the league.
