Ravens WR Steve Smith Announced He’s Retiring After 2015 Season

Ravens veteran WR Steve Smith announced Monday that 2015 will be his final season with the NFL.

“I feel like this is the best place, if this is going to be the end, this will be the best place to end,” Smith said.

“I think it’s always easier when you know you have a finish line,” Smith added. “You get to let things loose…it’s just, man, whatever happens, let the chips fall where they may.”

Smith, 36, is a former third round pick of the Carolina Panthers back in 2001 NFL Draft. He spent 13 seasons with the Panthers before he was cut loose in a move that cleared some much needed cap space for Carolina.

The Ravens wasted little time in signing him to a contract last year, and Smith would go to have a solid season for Baltimore.

In 2014, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and caught 79 passes for 1,065 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
