RB Cedric Benson Sentenced To 20 Days In Jail

The Austin American-Statesman reports that Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Benson has been sentenced to twenty days in jail after reaching deal to settle two assault cases. The reports adds that Benson will only be required to serve around one week in jail and the plea agreement allows him sit during the Bengals bye week rather miss playing time.

We are pleased that Mr. Benson took responsibility for his actions today,” Assistant Travis County Attorney Corby Holcomb said.

This was one of the biggest concerns about the idea of signing Benson during free agency so that fact that it will not impact his availability is definitely a win for the Bengals.
