RB Jackie Battle Desires A More Central Role In 2012

Chiefs RB Jackie Battle is excited to test the waters when the free agent market opens on March 13th.  During his interview on Serius Radio, Battle voiced that he would like to stay with the Chiefs, but that he wants to be viewed as a true running back and is willing to see if the market values him as such.

Battle certainly had his chance to impress this season.  He became the featured back (and a hot Fantasy waiver pick-up) when Jamaal Charles suffered a season ending injury in week two.  Battle looked dangerous the following week against the Colts (his first as the #1 back), before settling for mediocre production for the remainder of the season.

Given the depth at the position in the market and draft, it’s unclear which team would feature him in a more central role than he already enjoys with the Chiefs.  Don’t be surprised if he fields a few unattractive offers before returning to the Chiefs as their #2 or 3.
