Re-Signing FS Dashon Goldson The 49ers’ Top Priority?

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area writes that there’s “little question” that retaining FS Dashon Goldson is the 49ers top priority this offseason.

“He’s somebody that I think you reward,” said head coach Jim Harbaugh. “You know he’s out there, and opposing offenses know that he’s out there. He tackles and does everything that you’d want a safety to do. I feel like you reward those types of people. Who do you reward if you don’t reward those types of people?

Goldson, 28, was franchised last year, so San Francisco would have to be willing to pay an additional 20 percent to do so again. Maiocco adds that tagging Goldson would run the 49ers  $7.5 million, while Goldson is believed to be targeting a deal that would pay him $8 million annually.

San Francisco has some options to consider, but Goldson put together a solid enough season for them to at least considering the idea of meeting his asking price. We have Goldson listed as the No. 10 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
