Redskins An Option For Peyton Manning?

Last night we posted a report from the NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora in which he mentioned Peyton Manning is not interested in joining the Jets. La Canfora instead tossed out three NFC West teams being the Cardinals, Seahawks and 49ers as alternative options.

ESPN’s Bram Weinstein tweets that the Washington Redskins could be the team to watch when it comes to possibilities for Manning.

One of the people who’s opinion at ESPN I trust the most says Peyton + Saturday to Redskins is VERY likely,”tweets Weinstein.

The idea of packaging C Jeff Saturday with Manning makes a lot of sense considering their history together. A lot will depend on what happens in this years draft as the Redskins are believed to be one of the teams that could trade up for Robert Griffin III but you would have to think that Mike Shanahan would strongly consider adding Manning rather than moving forward with Rex Grossman under center for another season. Then again, the Redskins were burned on their last trade for a veteran quarterback.

  1. I don’t believe anything Jason LaCanfora says. Jets are still in play as far as I’m concerned. But I definitely think Washington and Arizona are strong possibilities.

    • Haha! I agree with you about the Jets. The firing of Jim Caldwell really is the first step towards possibly releasing Manning so a lot can change in a short period of time. Jets have Tom Moore as an assistant and Jets would have to consider upgrading the position if given the opportunity. We’ll have to see how Manning’s health holds up.
