Redskins Officially Cut 22 Including DL Cullen Jenkins & TE Logan Paulsen

The Washington Redskins have begun the process of trimming their roster down to 53 players. Here’s the list of roster cuts up to this point:

The Redskins are officially down to their 53-player limit.

Jenkins, 35, began his NFL career with in Green Bay where he played seven years for the Packers. Jenkins departed for the Eagles in 2011 and later signed on with the Giants as an unrestricted free agent back in 2013.

The Redskins signed Jenkins to a one-year deal on Monday.

Last year, Jenkins appeared in all 16 games for the Giants and recorded 26 tackles, three sacks, and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 103 interior defender out of 123 qualifying players.

Paulsen, 28, signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA back in 2012. He played out the final year of his three-year, $4 million contract and was among the better blocking tight ends available in this year’s free agent pool.

Unfortunately for Paulsen, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve at the start of the 2015 season and subsequently missed the entire year.

Powe, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2011. He spent a few years in Kansas City before joining the Texans as an unrestricted free agent in March of last year.

The Redskins signed him to a contract in early June.

In 2014, Powe appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and recorded 10 tackles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has Powe down for playing 277 snaps last year, but he struggled in both run and pass defense, according to their ratings.

Trail, 25, originally signed on with the Texans an an undrafted free agent out of Norfolk State back in May of last year. He was unfortunately waived at the start of the season before later signing onto the Redskins’ practice squad in October.

Trail returned to Washington on a future/reserve contract this past January.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
