Redskins Believed To Be Seeking 3rd-Rd Pick For S Su’a Cravens

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, citing a league source, reports that the Redskins are believed to be targeting third-round pick in exchange for S Su’a Cravens. However, the offers Washington for Cravens aren’t in line with this kind of compensation.

Florio mentions that the best approach for the Redskins could ultimately be to agree to a conditional pick in 2019 that’s based on factors like how many games he plays, how well he performs, and/or how well his new team does.

Otherwise, the Redskins could be in a situation where they’ll have to cut him loose for nothing in return.

Last we heard regarding Cravens, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that the Broncos were in trade talks for Cravens. Rapoport added that Denver is the team with the most interest in Cravens right now and considered the likely landing spot him in the end.

However, there haven’t been any updates regarding a potential deal between the Broncos and Redskins since then.

Cravens was officially reinstated by the NFL last month after spending the 2017 season on the reserve/left squad list.

Adam Schefter reported a few months ago that Cravens received medical clearance to resume all football activities and plans to play next season.

Cravens, 22, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $4.430 million contract that included $2.523 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $450,000 and $651,408 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Cravens appeared in 11 games for the Redskins and recorded 34 tackles, one sack, an interception and five pass defenses. Cravens was limited to playing 294 total snaps last year.

We’ll have more regarding Cravens as the news is available.
