Robert Griffin III Will Not Need Sugery On Dislocated Ankle

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III says that an MRI did not reveal any fracture in his dislocated ankle, per Mike Jones of the Washington Post.

RGIII mentioned that he’s still waiting for Dr. Anderson to look over his test results, but as of now it appears as though he will not require surgery.

Jones adds that RGIII was no longer sporting a fast on his ankle, but was still on crutches Monday.

Redskins HC Jay Gruden announced that QB Robert Griffin III does in fact have a dislocated ankle, via CSN Washington.

Griffin will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm to determine the severity of the injury and if there is a possible fracture.

Ian Rapooport of the NFL Network reports that the fear from the Redskins is that QB Robert Griffin III sustained a dislocated ankle during the first quarter of Sunday’s game.

Former Chargers team physician, David Choo, mentions that if Griffin does in fact have an ankle fracture/dislocation, it would likely require surgery and would put his season in jeopardy.

Choo adds that if he only has a dislocated ankle, Griffin could be back in 6-8 weeks.

RGIII was forced to leave the game after his leg planted awkwardly. Griffin was clearly in a great deal of pain and was later carted off the field with an air cast on his ankle injury.

Kirk Cousins has stepped in and looked pretty good overall.
