Redskins Release S Tanard Jackson

Update:

The idea of Tanard Jackson rejoining the Redskins following his recent reinstatement was short lived as the team officially terminated his contract on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Jackson, 28, was suspended for repeated violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Before his suspension, Jackson spent five years with the Buccaneers primarily as their starting free safety.

Redskins GM Bruce Allen told reporters on Tuesday that recently reinstated safety Tanard Jackson could be given another chance, despite being suspended for the last two seasons, per Pro Football Talk.

Later today, he’ll be taking his physical exam,” Allen said, via CSN Washingon. “And if he meets all of those conditions that the NFL has laid out for him, and after meeting with him, we might give him a chance, yes.”

Allen added that the possible addition of Jackson would not affect the teams drafting strategy.

Jackson would join a group of safeties that includes Ryan ClarkBrandon Meriweather, Phillip Thomas and Bacarri Rambo.
